One of the key elements to achieving a cozy bed is layering. Layering your bedding not only adds texture and depth to your bed but also creates a warm and inviting space to relax in. Here are some tips on how to layer your bed:

1. Start with a good foundation

   The first step to layering your bed is to start with a good foundation. This means investing in a quality mattress, box spring (if needed), and bed frame. Once you have a sturdy foundation, you can start adding your bedding layers.

2. Add a mattress protector and fitted sheet

   The next layer to add is a mattress protector and fitted sheet. I like this breathable mattress protector from Amazon. These two layers are essential as they not only protect your mattress but also provide a comfortable base for the rest of your bedding. Make sure to choose sheets that are soft and breathable to ensure a good night's sleep.

3. Layer on a flat sheet

4. Add a duvet and duvet cover

Make sure to choose a duvet insert that is appropriate for your climate and personal preferences. Because I live in the desert, I prefer lightweight all year around. You’ll also need a duvet cover. 5. Layer on decorative pillows

   Now it's time to add some decorative pillows! Choose a mix of different sizes and textures to create interest and depth. Start with a couple of Euro shams, then add a few standard pillows in coordinating colors or patterns. Finish with a few accent pillows in fun textures, prints or colors.

6. Finish with a throw blanket

   Finally, finish off your layered bed with a cozy throw blanket. Drape it over the foot of the bed or fold it neatly at the end of the bed for easy access.
